How Your Charity Can Participate

Overstock Program

Retailers often make mistakes on the amount and quantity of certain products that they order.  When they can't sell them, they mark the items down maybe 20%, 50%, sometimes even 70% or more.  But there comes a point in any product's life where it is actually cheaper to donate the product to charity or throw it away, rather than pay for the signage and labor on a product that is losing money.  RetailROI is building a database of charities that minister to children and women at risk, and which will accept donations of food, clothing, furniture, building supplies and household goods.  When complete, retailers will be able to enter their zip code into our system and receive a list of charities in their local area that can come and pick up the items.  For the retailer, they get a tax deduction.  For the charity, they get items for free, thus preserving their budgets for more good work.  To be considered as one of the charities in our database, please fill out the form below. PLEASE NOTE: This is not an instantaneous process. It will likely be months or longer before you get your first call from a retailer. The retailers must be willing to use the database and that process takes time as well.

Grant Requests

Currently we have a backlog of grant requests from organizations with which our board members are intimately involved, and we are not accepting new requests at this time. This will change later this year and we will have a formal grant request application for you to fill out at this site.

One thing to note is that RetailROI is only allowed to provide grants to qualified charities - not individuals - so proof of that 501 (c)3 status will be required as part of the process. International charities are certainly supported by RetailROI, however, we prefer to do this through a US-based charity as an intermediary. This helps to expedite the research time and allows for maximum donation amount to go towards helping the children, rather that research or overhead to verify the international charity.
