Cost of Social Worker Turnover Calculator

Cost of Social Worker
Turnover Calculator

The Cost of Social Worker Turnover Calculator is a tool that helps social workers, government officials, and legislators to estimate the financial and social impact of losing case workers on the children they serve and the society as a whole.

This tool lets the user input a few values and get some meaningful output in terms of the number of children affected and the short-term and long-term financial costs. It also lets you see how lowering the turnover rate reduces the number of children exposed to turnover, how many case workers would remain in their jobs, and the financial improvement.

The calculator is meant to initiate a deeper conversation. While there are two levels shown in this simplified tool, there is a more detailed calculator spreadsheet that you can download for free which shows all the assumptions and data that were used with data sources.

While this simple web calculator allows for 7 input values, the detailed spreadsheet has 40 different input values that can be adjusted as well as assumptions and studies used to develop the calculator for those who may have better or more recent data. You can use these values for a quick calculation or change them to get more precise results for your situation.
