Children in the US foster system that have a single social worker find permanence (adoption, reunification, etc.) 74.5% of the time. If there is any turnover among social workers, that drops to only 17.5%.
That means a child in the system age 11 is over 50% likely to age of the system if the social worker quits. For a child 15 an older, it is near 100%. They lose their advocate in the system.
The impact is devastating.
Kids who age out of the foster system are up to 60x more likely to be a victim of human trafficking among other horrors.
